28 oz can | Crushed tomatoes |
6 oz can | Tomato paste |
4 cloves | Minced garlic |
1 tsp | Dried basil |
1 1/2 Tbsp | Sugar |
2 Tbsp | Diced onion |
1 1/2 Tbsp | Olive oil |
1 Tbsp | Dried oregano |
1/4 tsp | Crushed red pepper flakes |
to taste | Pepper |
to taste | Salt |
1. Sauté the diced onion (2 Tbsp) in the olive oil (1 1/2 Tbsp) for 2 minutes. |
2. Add minced garlic (4 cloves) and sauté for another minute. |
3. Add basil (1 tsp), sugar (1 1/2 Tbsp), oregano (1 Tbsp), red pepper flakes (1/4 tsp), salt (to taste), and pepper (to taste). |
4. Simmer the pizza sauce for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. |
5. If during the simmering, the sauce becomes too thick, add some water. |
6. Let the sauce cool down a little bit before using. |
